The entrance to Central MTR station was set on fire as tensions boiled over during the 14th consecutive weekend of anti-government protests in Hong Kong. Later in the evening, police fired rounds of tear gas to disperse protesters in the busy Causeway Bay shopping district.

The latest clashes forced two MTR stations on Hong Kong Island and two more in Kowloon to close. Despite Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam’s announcement that she will withdraw the extradition bill which initially sparked the protests, many demonstrators say the concession is not enough, and demand that all of their key demands be met.
